At St George’s CE Primary School, supporting the mental health and wellbeing of our whole school community — pupils, staff and families — is central to everything we do. We believe wellbeing means feeling safe, valued, healthy and happy, and we encourage everyone in our community to talk openly about their feelings and ask for help when they need it.
Our school vision of “Living Life in All Its Fullness” guides how we care for our pupils. We aim to provide a safe, nurturing and supportive environment where every child feels secure, confident and ready to learn. Staff work closely together to support children’s emotional development throughout the school day — in lessons, during breaktimes and through all school activities.
At St George’s, we understand that all behaviour is communication. Children do not always have the words to explain how they feel, so we take time to understand the emotions behind behaviour and provide the support they need. By building strong relationships and promoting kindness, respect and understanding, we help children develop confidence, resilience and positive relationships with others.
Some children may need additional emotional support at different times in their lives. When this happens, we work closely with families to identify the best support for each child. Our Happy Hub nurture provision provides a safe and supportive space where children can receive additional guidance to help them regulate emotions, build confidence and develop social skills.
Support may include small group work, one-to-one sessions, creative activities, discussion, play-based learning or opportunities to explore feelings in a calm and supportive environment. These approaches help children feel understood, develop resilience and re-engage positively with school life.
At St George’s, wellbeing is a whole-school priority. We celebrate all achievements, build strong partnerships with families and ensure every child feels valued as part of our school community.
Through this shared commitment, we aim to ensure that every child feels supported, confident and able to flourish — living life in all its fullness.
The Happy Hub is our dedicated nurture space at St George’s CE Primary School, designed to support pupils who may need additional emotional support during the school day. It provides a calm, safe and welcoming environment where children can talk about their feelings, regulate their emotions and build confidence.
Children may access the Happy Hub for a short period of time, through small group sessions or individual support, depending on their needs. Activities may include discussion, creative play, calming strategies, reflection time and opportunities to develop social and emotional skills.
Our pastoral team works closely with class teachers and families to ensure that support provided in the Happy Hub helps children feel secure, develop resilience and return to the classroom ready to learn.
The Happy Hub plays an important role in helping our pupils feel supported, valued and ready to live life in all its fullness.
