At St George’s CE Primary School and Nursery, our aim is to enable children to develop a range of skills and knowledge they can apply independently. We believe these will contribute to life-long success. A good education facilitates the development of skills and knowledge which allows children to develop into well-rounded and well-educated adults who value the beauty and richness of life and can cope with whatever life throws at them. They can become beacons of light and hope in an everchanging world. We recognise learning is not just confined to the classroom; learning can occur anywhere! A well-planned curriculum and experiences, well-chosen resources and dedicated people, can make learning beyond the classroom happen. We interweave the development of children’s cultural capital within our curriculum and beyond it.
Cultural capital can be defined as: ‘the accumulation of essential knowledge needed to be educated citizens to engender an appreciation of human creativity and achievement.’
